KUCHING - Sarawak has emphasised the importance of preparing four frameworks before embarking on carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) projects and any other green projects.

In a statement today, state Energy and Environmental Sustainability Deputy Minister Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, said the four frameworks comprise legal; technical; finance, business and taxation; and human resources.

Hazland was speaking as a panellist at the H2Asia 2023 Conference held in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

He also shared the state government’s proactive approach to creating a symbiotic relationship between environmental conservation and economic prosperity regarding CCUS.

"Sarawak’s ongoing and prospective CCUS initiatives not only align with the state’s commitment to climate action but also open new avenues for economic growth,” he said.

Themed "Fuelling Our Future with H2 and CCUS,” the conference was cohesively organised by the Ezra & Macquarie Group, providing a platform for immersive discussions centring on project financing, technological advancements, industry updates and the policy panorama.

As Sarawak is set to host the Asia Pacific Green Hydrogen Conference and Exhibition (APGH) next year, the deputy minister encouraged attendees to partake in the forthcoming event scheduled for July 2024 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching.

APGH 2024 will propel Sarawak to the forefront of the green hydrogen revolution in the region and delve deeper into the realm of sustainable energy solutions. - BERNAMA
