Dedicated mother puts son's needs first, postpones surgery

DUNGUN - A mother, who suffered a stroke postponed her surgery to ensure her son's smooth registration at Politeknik Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin (PSMZA) here today.

Naimah Ali, 39, was initially scheduled for surgery on the same day after experiencing internal bleeding in her brain at Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ).

The mother of five decided to delay her procedure to accompany her second child, Ahmad Farhan Asyraf Yusri, 18, for his registration and admission to the educational institution.

"I had a stroke in February this year, which has left me unable to walk or move normally. I rely on a wheelchair now.

"It happened that the surgery and my son's enrollment at the polytechnic were on the same day.

"So, I postponed the surgery to ensure we could send him off today," she explained during her visit to PSMZA.

Naimah, who resides in Perumahan Desa Sepakat, Kampung Kepong, Kuala Terengganu, was joined by her husband, Yusri Abdul Rahman, 51, and other family members.

Her presence was celebrated by PSMZA director Zamra Derahman, who wished Ahmad Farhan Asyraf success in his education and encouraged him to excel.

Ahmad Farhan is a new student for the 2023/2024 Academic Session 1, pursuing a Diploma in Civil Engineering.

A total of 448 new 2022 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) graduates registered for enrollment at the educational institution on Tuesday.

New student registration will remain open until September 18, with the goal of boosting student enrollment for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to support the nation's aspirations.
