Umno members no longer need to be phobic about DAP - Ahmad Maslan

MUAR - Umno members, including the Malays no longer need to be phobic about DAP which is now in the Unity Government said Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan.

The Johor Umno Deputy Chairman said DAP has made a declaration to support the four main points in the Federal Constitution.

"The work of providing information to voters, especially the elderly is being actively carried out by the Barisan Nasional (BN) party machinery.

"All three wings of the party namely Wanita, Pemuda and Puteri Umno have played a good role to ensure the support of all age groups of party members," he said.

He said this in a press conference after the special ceramah at Taman Sri Kaseh here yesterday.

Ahmad said the young machinery of the Unity Government needs to continue improving the work of attracting people of their age through social media and the various platforms available.

"This is because young people are more oriented to the use of social media and therefore, this method is seen to be more effective in attracting their interest.

"What I hope is that all voters should think wisely because what we have chosen is for a period of five years not five days and we will have to deal with it in the long term if we make the wrong choice," he said.

He said all voters in the Pulai Parliament and the Simpang Jeram State Legislative Assembly must ensure that both areas remain in the Unity Government.

He said if wrong choices are made, it will make Pulai and Simpang Jeram under the administration of the opposition which will indirectly make management difficult for a period of five years.

"Being under the administration of elected representatives from the government which indirectly facilitates the business of getting help from the ministry and indirectly solves easily every problem encountered," he said.
