Give Anwar more time to improve country’s economy, says Sultan Ibrahim
SHAH ALAM - The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should be given more time to improve the country’s economy.
According to a report by English daily The Star, His Majesty said Anwar only realised about the government’s financial distress after assuming office.
The Johor Ruler said he recognised the financial challenges faced by Anwar’s administration and believed that the latter needed more time to fix the economy.
“Anwar only came to realise the government’s financial distress after taking office. I believe he needs more time,” he said in an interview published in Sin Chew Daily, yesterday which was quoted by The Star.
On Anwar’s visit to China earlier, Sultan Ibrahim expressed relief that there were many positive outcomes from the visit.
Anwar led a delegation on an official visit to China from March 29 to April 1, which saw Malaysia securing investment commitments worth RM170 billion from China.
