Two vehicles catch fire, three drivers survive

SHAH ALAM - Three drivers survived after being involved in two separate accidents in Pulau Indah and Klang, earlier this morning.

The first incident at the Pulau Indah highway, Taman Teluk Gedung Indah involved a driver whose vehicle skidded and crashed into a tree.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations), Senior Fire Officer I Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received a distress call at 2.10am.

“A total of five personnel and officers and a fire engine from the Fire Post fire station were deployed to the scene.

“We found that the fire involved a Perodua Axia car drove by a man in his 20s which had skidded and crashed into a tree,” he said in a statement, today.

Mukhlis said the victim managed to save himself and escaped injuries before the firemen arrived at the location.

“We successfully controlled the blaze at 2.30am and the fire was fully put out 10 minutes later. The fire involved 95 per cent damages,” he said.

Meanwhile, in another incident, a Toyota Vellfire multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) was believed to have collided with an Audi car causing the MPV to overturn and caught fire in Jalan Perdana Indah, Klang.

Mukhlis said the department received an emergency call on the incident at 2.43am

“A total of seven personnel and officers and fire engine from the Kota Raja fire station were deployed to the scene,” he said.

He said the department found that the fire involved an MPV drove by a 39-year old man who was believed to have hit the back of the Audi car on the same route.

“The fire was controlled and put out at 3.10am while the Audi car which did not catch fire was already brought to the police station before firemen arrived at the location.

“Both drivers escaped injuries and the damage to the vehicle that caught fire was estimated at 90 per cent,” he said.
