KUANTAN - The scenario of Umno being increasingly forgotten and facing a crisis of confidence of the people demands the awareness and unwavering commitment of Umno Youth.

Umno vice president Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said that as the party's main pillar of strength, Umno Youth must keep playing a role to ensure that the party remains relevant, accepted by the people again and drives the anticipated revival.

He said the bravery, tenacity and warrior fighting spirit of Malay highlighted by Umno Youth figures is why Umno will continue to be respected, trusted and admired by the people.

"The time has come for Umno Youth to rise with the utmost fighting spirit in restoring the party's dignity and glory.

"Approach, understand and harness the hearts of young people to support us. This is the greatest trust that the Umno Youth must shoulder wholeheartedly at this time," he said in a mandate statement in conjunction with the 74th anniversary of Umno Youth Movement on Saturday.

Rosdy said that in the 74 years since its establishment, Umno Youth had gone through tremendous and historic events, such as fighting to liberate the homeland from colonialism.

"Fight on, we do not want this long heritage dagger to be stuck on the wall, sharp, but lying dormant in its sheath.

"Show off the courage and intelligence you inherited to continue shaping the party. If something is wrong, make it right. If something is broken, fix it. If something is false, keep amending. If you were to be a follower, be a sensible one, and if you were to obey something, do it wisely," he advised.

"As Umno vice president, I will always carry and support whatever agenda the Youth wants to bring as long as it is in line with the goals of this party that we love.

"Sharpen, smoke the fire of this warrior dagger. Keep on fighting for the sake of Umno that we love," he finished.
