Elmina crash: Over 10 individuals' statements recorded - Police

SHAH ALAM - More than 10 individuals including the public who have videos of the plane crash in Elmina, Section U16 on Aug 17 had their statement recorded.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that the investigation is currently being carried out by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB).

"Up until now, more than 10 individuals including the viral crash videos' owners, airline company representatives, the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) representatives and several other individuals had their statements recorded.

"We are still waiting for the investigation report carried out by AAIB. After that, we will examine the next steps," he said at the Selangor Police Merdeka Carnival and Ride in conjunction with the 2023 National Day celebration at the Shah Alam Stadium on Saturday.

Last Tuesday, the police announced that they had classified the investigation into the plane crash as a sudden death (SDR).

On Aug 17, a crash involving a plane in Elmina Section U16 killed 10 individuals including Pahang Local Government, Housing, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman Datuk Seri Johari Harun.

Also on the plane were pilot Shahrul Kamal Roslan, 41, and co-pilot Heikal Aras Abdul Azim, 45, as well as five passengers namely Muhammad Taufik Mohd Zaki, 37, Khairil Azwan Jamaludin, 43, Shaharul Amir Omar, 49, Mohammad Naim Fawwas Mohamed Muaidi, 35, and Idris Abdul Talib @ Ramali, 41.

The other two were civilians namely p-hailing rider Muhammad Hafiz Muhammad Salleh, 32, and e-hailing driver Sharipudin Shaari, 51, who passed by the accident area.
