SC appoints new board members
SINAR DAILY REPORTERSHAH ALAM: The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) appoints Datuk Alizatul Khair Osman Khairuddin and Datuk Mohammad Faiz Azmi as board members for a two-year term, effective Aug 15, 2023.
Alizatul has over 40 years of experience in legal and judicial services, having served as Judicial Commissioner and Judge in the High Court, Court of Appeal, and Federal Court.
She was appointed commissioner of the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) by Yang di-Pertuan Agong in November 2020.
She was also previously the Penang State Legal Adviser, appointed to this position on Oct 1, 1995.
Alizatul's career in the civil service started in 1976 as a legal officer and was transferred to various High Courts as Senior Assistant Registrar, prior to further studies in 1981.
She was appointed as Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) Commissioner by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in November 2020.
Mohammad Faiz, on the other hand, has over 38 years of experience in audit and business advisory services in Malaysia and the United Kingdom.
He who served as PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Malaysia executive chairman and was appointed chairman of the 1Malaysia Development Berhad’s (1MDB) executive committee as part of the audit firm’s services.
Apart from that, he had previously served as president of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and chairman of the Malaysia Accounting Standards Board.
In a statement, the SC said the board, appointed by the Finance Ministry, is responsible for monitoring the overall governance of the SC and has oversight of its regulatory and developmental mandates.
Its chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Awang Adek Hussin, said the new board members' diverse backgrounds would bring fresh perspectives and ensure a well-rounded approach to decision-making and oversight.
"With the addition of Mohammad Faiz and Alizatul, the SC board will comprise a more diverse group of professionals with extensive knowledge in various sectors," he said.
