Pahang PN will contest in the Pelangai state assembly by-election
KUANTAN - The Pahang Perikatan Nasional (PN) has confirmed that it will contest in the Pelangai state by-election, its Chairman Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah says.
"PN is discussing the most suitable candidate (for the Pelangai by-election)," he said today.
Meanwhile, Pas Pahang Deputy Commissioner Andasura Rabu said that his party has submitted the list of candidates to the central leadership for consideration and will meet next week to discuss the by-election.
The Election Commission (EC) set the voting day for the Pelangai state seat on Oct 7, while the candidate nomination and early voting dates were set for Sept 23 and Oct 3, respectively.
The Electoral Register for the Pelangai State Assembly by-election contains a total of 16,456 voters consisting of 16,417 ordinary voters, 36 policemen and three Overseas Absentee Voters.
The Pelangai state by-election has to be held following the unexpected vacancy of the seat following the death of its incumbent, Datuk Seri Johari Harun, 53, in a plane crash in Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam on 17 August.
