Man's body found in ditch believed to be murdered

TELUK INTAN - The body of a man was discovered lying in a ditch on Jalan Pasir Kampung Sungai Payung Baroh, Rungkup, here yesterday, believed to have been murdered.

The Lower Perak District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Adnan Basri stated that the body of the man was found by a member of the public in a decomposed state around 4.48 p.m.

"Investigations revealed that the man, wearing a red shirt and shorts, was found with several wounds on his hands, legs, and neck.

"However, the man's ethnicity and nationality have yet to be determined as no identification documents were found on the victim," he said in a statement today.

According to him, a post-mortem examination was carried out by the Forensic Department of Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB), Ipoh.

"The post-mortem revealed that the cause of death was due to cut wounds on the head and neck.

"The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder," he said.

The public with information related to the incident are urged to come forward to assist in the investigation by contacting the Senior Investigating Officer, Assistant Superintendent Muhammad Nazrin Nasir, at 019-9146370 or provide information at the nearby police station.
