KUALA TERENGGANU – The decision of four states under the leadership of Perikatan Nasional (PN) to use the same National Day logo and theme as the Federal government is considered the beginning of a more mature political culture.

Terengganu Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad said the decision was seen as a form of a new dimension to the political stability of the country and ensured that there was no repeat of the act of changing the government before the end of the term.

"We hope that the era of the government changing every year ends because the people are tired of 24-hour politicking without room for self-reflection and efforts to build the nation.

"It's not just the people who are bored and tired, the royalties also express the same opinion and hope for stability and order in the country," he said in a statement here, Wednesday night.

He said, the focus now needs to be on a win-win situation–services for the people are improved with the government and the opposition entirely focusing on them.

"We hope to be able to return to the era and way of healthy politics where after the general election (GE) and state elections, the government and the opposition concentrate their efforts to fully serve the people until the next GE," he said.

In the meantime, he said, the royalties would also be saddened if political strife among political parties did not end.

"Our Malay kings are the nation's umbrella for all the people to take shelter in and if political turmoil always brings continuous political storms, the umbrella that protects the people will also be affected and saddened because of the constant hitting storm.

"Be patient and forget for a while the ambition to come to power as a government until the next election as stipulated in the constitution. Use the available period to build and improve the internal political strength of each and at the same time defend the fate of the people," he said.

Last Monday, the Terengganu Government explained that it would use the logo and theme for the National Day celebration on August 31 in line with the Federal Government as introduced by the Communications and Digital Ministry previously.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said preparations for the anniversary of the historic day to be celebrated at the state level had been arranged and the celebration would commence as usual.

The same thing was also decided by the governments of Kelantan, Kedah and Perlis who announced that they would use the same logo and theme as the one used by the Federal government for the 66th National Day celebration.
