THE country's professional men's singles player, Lee Zii Jia lived up to expectation when he easily cruised to the second round of the 2023 World Badminton Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark after defeating Canada's Brian Yang, early Thursday morning.

Zii Jia, ranked 13th in the world, won straight sets 21-11, 21-16 in 33 minutes in the contest at the Royal Arena.

Waiting for Zii Jia in the third round is the 12th seed from Denmark, Anders Antonsen who overcame another national men's singles player, Ng Tze Yong 22-24, 16-21.

"So far, I have enjoyed the tournament here and I hope to maintain this momentum," Zii Jia told the Badminton World Federation (BWF) after the match.

In the meantime, Tze Yong's journey in Copenhagen stagnated after conceding defeat to Antonsen.
