Social media influencer Khairul Aming leads TikTok awards with 1.3 mil votes
SHAH ALAM - Social media influencer Khairul Aming has garnered 1.3 million votes, placing him at the top spot in the People's Choice: Creator Of The Year category.
Apart from Khairul Aming, whose real name is Khairul Amin Kamarulzaman, other nominees in the same category include Ceddy, TikTok account @ceddyornot; Boss James (@bossjames_eo); Sally (@sallywhoo); Auntie Purple (@auntiepurple248); and Lawyer Gandhi (@lawyerghandi).
The 31-year-old man influencer, encountered at a recent media event and at the launch of the TikTok Awards 2023 has high hopes of winning.
"Of course, I don't want to lose and I have been campaigning, not just for myself but also for the other finalists," he said.
Sharing his initial beginings in creating videos on TikTok, the Kelantan native admitted to discomfort but now considers TikTok to be his primary platform.
"My initial videos were in horizontal format but TikTok needs in vertical format.
"There are many differences, as TikTok prefers casual videos but I still find joy in creating videos on this platform despite strong competition.
"This competition also means that the video content creation industry is becoming more creative and competitive," said the man who once sold 10,000 bottles of sambal through TikTok.
Apart from the Creator of the Year, the other six categories in the People’s Choice are Rising Star of the Year are Popular Animation Account of the Year, Celebrity of the Year, Live Creator of the Year and TikTok Shop Creator of the Year.
The inaugural awards event also introduces seven Judge's Pick categories such as Best of Fashion & Beauty, Best of Entertainment, Best of Gaming, Best of Sports, Best of Education and Best of Foodie.
The winners will be announced at the TikTok Awards Malaysia 2023 grand finale to be held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur on August 27th.
TikTok Awards is the largest awards event organised by the social media platform TikTok to recognise outstanding content creators from various backgrounds and fields.
