Appointed Exco or not, Gunaraj vows to continue serving
SHAH ALAM - The argument over the division of the number of Selangor State Government Council Members (Exco) between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblymen should end once all selected candidates have taken their oaths on Monday.
Sentosa State Assemblyman Gunaraj George, stated that the issue should not interfere with PH-BN's greater agenda of providing the best service to the people of Selangor.
According to him, all parties must agree and accept the leader's decision in the election of the Exco lineup, to maintain the smooth operation of the state administration.
"We must not let the debate over seat allocation overshadow PH-BN's larger mission.
"This alliance is created in the spirit of cooperation, inclusiveness and common goals.
"We must remind ourselves of this, especially in times of misunderstanding or uncertainty," he said in a statement on Tuesday.
"That is the nature of alliance politics, collective decisions are made in the interests of the state and its people.
"Whether or not I am appointed, I remain committed to the people of Selangor."
"With or without a position, I will do my best for the people, and my commitment to our country's progress and the well-being of its people will continue," he said.
He also indicated his willingness to work with Exco, V Papparaidu, to resolve numerous concerns in Selangor's Indian community.
"I hope we can shift our focus to serve the people of Selangor and keep our country moving forward.
"I believe the Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari will also pay attention to the aspirations of the Indian community in the state and will produce various initiatives," he said.
