Man dies after dropping off wife at work

PARIT - A man died after the motorcycle he was riding skidded off the road at Kilometer 42 of Jalan Ipoh-Lumut near Bota Bridge, here today.

The incident occurred at 10.15am when the victim, Muhammad Syafiq Muhammad Nazri, 23, was on his way home after dropping off his wife at work in Titi Gantung.

Perak Police Chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said preliminary investigations revealed that the victim, who was riding a Yamaha Lagenda motorcycle, lost control and skidded off the road to the right side.

"The victim suffered severe head injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene.

"At the time of the incident, the victim was riding alone from Lumut to Ipoh," he said in a statement today.

He said a post-mortem was conducted on the deceased at the Changkat Melintang Hospital.

He urged the public to come forward for information and assist in the investigation.

"The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.
