Wanita Keadilan demands apology from Sanusi for disrespecting woman
SHAH ALAM - PKR Wanita has demanded an apology from Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor for allegedly disrespecting a woman in public.
Wanita Keadilan information chief Noraini Nordin said Sanusi's act of knocking a woman's head with a piece of paper was inappropriate, even if it was meant as a joke.
"Sanusi's act was wrong in terms of manners.
"He did it in an open place that was seen by many people, and the woman also had official business with him," she said in a statement today.
Noraini said Sanusi's actions were also disrespectful to the woman's family and parents.
"As a Menteri Besar, Sanusi should set a good example and uphold the dignity of women.
"His actions have the potential to give the impression that he is a rude and disrespectful leader," she said.
Noraini urged Sanusi to apologise to the woman and to promise not to repeat such an act in the future.
She also called on all women in Malaysia to speak out against Sanusi's actions in order to defend the dignity of women as a whole.
"If not women defend women's dignity, who else?" she said.
The incident occurred on Aug 19, when Sanusi was meeting with residents of a village in Kedah.
A video of the incident went viral on social media, showing Sanusi knocking the woman's head with a piece of paper.
