KUALA LUMPUR - Transport Minister Anthony Loke has said that it is crucial to establish a common set of safety aviation regulations that are universally adopted across the Asia Pacific region in order to strengthen Malaysia's aviation landscape.

Loke made the remarks during his speech at the Malaysian Aviation Safety Seminar (MASS ‘23) held at the JW Marriott Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

He said that standardising safety regulations would guarantee that all parties involved in aviation were subjected to the same standard, which would improve operational effectiveness.

The two-day seminar was jointly organised by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), the Civil Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States, and the Boeing Company.

It covers a wide range of topics, including aircraft maintenance, air traffic control procedures, ramp inspections, runway safety program, emergency preparedness, and positive safety culture.

Loke said that Malaysia is committed to providing the utmost support and dedication to ensure that aviation safety remains the top priority among all involved parties.

He also applauded ICAO's efforts in establishing regional coordination and cooperation among member states to enhance safety in aviation.

"This collaborative effort has played a significant role in shaping and advancing Malaysia's aviation safety environment," he said.
