Discussions being held on Pelangai state seat candidate - Zahid
MUHAMMAD AFHAM RAMLISHAH ALAM - Discussions on the candidate who will be fielded to contest in the Pelangai state seat will be held after presenting it to the Pahang Umno liaison committee.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he had held a discussion with Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail with regards to the matter.
"We had examined not only the results of the last general election (GE15) in the Pelangai state assembly, but we figured that the development in this constituency should be given a continuity.
"The question of who will represent Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) will be detailed when the (Bentong Umno) divison had submitted the name to the state (state Umno) for the decision that I will make later," he said after the closing ceremony of the Police & Ipoh Super Biker's Club (ISBC) Madani Ride in conjunction with the 216th Police Memorial Day and 2023 Independence Month at the Selangor contingent police headquarters today.
Also present were Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay and Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director, Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali.
The Pelangai state seat is vacant following the death of its incumbent Datuk Seri Johari Harun who was involved in a plane crash on the Guthrie Highway near Bandar Elmina, here last Thursday.
Johari, 53, who was also Pahang Local Government, Housing, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman was one of the 10 victims who died in the Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) plane crash.
Johari boarded the plane on an official business trip in Langkawi, Kedah.
