Ikram denies colluding with groups opposing Islam
AISYAH BASARUDDINSHAH ALAM - The Malaysian Islamic Youth Movement (Ikram) denies allegations of collusion with certain quarters and opposing efforts to strengthen Islam, as circulated on WhatsApp.
Its president, Badlishah Sham Baharin, stated that the accusations also involved a photo of lawyer Nik Elin and another individual who is believed to be Kota Lama State Assemblyman Dr Hafidzah Mustakim.
He affirmed that these accusations are baseless and malicious slander.
"The individual shown in the photo is not the Kota Lama State Assemblyman.
"Ikram is not involved in any policies or understandings brought forth by the individual named Nik Elin or groups aligned with their thinking.
"Therefore, Ikram requests that these allegations be retracted and the spread of this slander be stopped immediately," he said in a statement today.
Badlishah emphasised that they are not hesitant to take legal action as these wild and baseless accusations have tarnished the organisation's reputation as well as that of its members.
He added that the organisation is committed to any effort that uplifts Islam as the federal religion.
"Ikram advocates the approach of Wasatiyyah Islam, which emphasises balance, justice, and excellence.
"We reject all forms of slander, excommunication among fellow Muslims, the use of harsh words, and any form of extremism and radicalism that disrupts harmony and undermines the unity of the Malaysian people," he said.
