KLANG - Sungai Tua State Assemblyman Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari was sworn in as the 17th Selangor Menteri Besar today.

The swearing-in ceremony took place in front of Sultan Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah at the Alam Shah Palace in Klang, in an event that started at 11am.

The ceremony was also attended by the Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Norashikin, Raja Muda Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah, Selangor Mufti, Datuk Dr Anhar Opir along with other state dignitaries.

During the ceremony, Amirudin, who was appointed for his second term as menteri besar recited a 10 commitment pledge he must fulfill and uphold during his tenure.

Among the pledges are to safeguard and ensure that the Islamic religion is not interfered with, to respect non-Islamic religions, to preserve the institution of the monarchy from disparagement and interference and to obey the Sultan's directives.

Amirudin also pledged to uphold the special position of Malays and the interests of other races, carry out his duties with full integrity and responsibility.
