Lawyer from Johor eyeing to buy Kelantan FC
KELANTAN FC, who suffered a 10-0 defeat against Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) in the second leg of the Round 16 of the 2023 Malaysia Cup in Iskandar Puteri on Saturday, still holds value in the eyes of investors.
A lawyer has expressed the intention to take over The Red Warriors (TRW) squad if the price is reasonable.
This matter was revealed by the owner of Kelantan FC, Norizam Tukiman, who said that the offer came from an individual in Johor known as Kamal Hisham Jaafar.
Previously, cosmetic entrepreneur Datuk Seri Hasmiza Othman, also known as Datuk Seri Vida, submitted an official letter to Norizam to take over the club's management.
Another offer has come from the young entrepreneur and owner of Erfan Gym & Fitness, Erfan Akif Ruslan, who is reportedly willing to invest up to RM10 million to acquire Kelantan FC.
“Lawyer Kamal Hisham, a person from Johor, was the first to offer to buy TRW. Kelantanese Datuk Vida and Erfan Gym's brother also made offers. Privatisation, anyone can buy the club,” Norizam wrote on his Facebook today.
Kamal Hisham had earlier posted on Facebook, stating that he was actively considering buying TRW if the offered price was reasonable.
In the meantime, Norizam, known by the nickname Zamsaham, reiterated his request for interested buyers to provide proof of funds, but so far, he has not received any.
“So far, I haven't received any proof of improvement plans and proof of funds from interested parties.
“If it's genuine, call and sit down with us. I will settle both old and new debts of TRW Kelantan FC, but the buyer needs to pay at least the capital I've invested over four seasons, including paying back KAFA's (Kelantan Football Association) RM3.8 million debt to me.
“The new owner can continue the claim against KAFA. I don't mind not profiting, as long as I get back my capital. If there's a loss, so be it,” Norizam stated.
Norizam reiterated his offer to interested parties to contact him via email.
"Kelantan residents, wherever you are, please email [email protected] and send a letter of interest along with proof of funds.
"When TRW was in the Premier League, I had to prove proof of funds by paying an RM3 million deposit upfront before paying off all the debts totaling RM7 million. I settled it immediately and it is done," he said.
He also mentioned that any changes in ownership of Kelantan FC would be reported to the Malaysian Football League (MFL).
"Whatever decision I make, I will bring it to the attention of MFL and the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) before finalizing the sale.
"For now, I haven't received anything firm from any party. Many people are just talking.
"Lawyer Kamal Hisham, you can call me. He has my number. We can sit down and discuss," he said.
