DBKL shuts down four entertainment outlets

KUALA LUMPUR - Four premises including restaurants and pubs were ordered to close after they were found to have carried out entertainment activities without any approval.

The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) media unit said the enforcement action was taken through the Special Operation of Risky Premises (Entertainment Activities) Series 11/2023 at Jalan Vista Mutiara Kepong, Jalan Genting Klang, Taman Danau Kota Setapak and Jalan U-Thant Ampang, yesterday.

It said raids and inspections were carried out leading to the discovery of the premises providing entertainment services including live music performances, karaoke and music DJ.

"The sealed action was immediately implemented under Section 17 of the Entertainment Act 1992 including opening eight investigation papers under Sections 4(1)(a) and 4(1)(b) for holding entertainment activities (live music/DJ) without permission.

"A compound notice under the Food Settlement By-Law (WPKL) 2016 (Employing Workers Without Permission) was also issued," it said in a statement, today.

A total of 38 various musical instruments were seized and sent to the Cheras DBKL seizure store for temporary storage and record purposes.

Enforcement actions will continue from time to time in other locations of focus around the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory.
