KUANTAN - A total of 14 locations in the Semambu state constituency are still at risk of being hit by flash floods at the end of the year.

Semambu assemblyman Chan Chun Kuang said the prediction came about following the relevant agencies' inaction so far in dealing with the problem.

However, he said a plan to resolve the issue across the 14 spots had been made after previously carrying out investigations and visits.

"This flash flood is a long-standing issue and I understand that they (relevant agencies) have applied for allocations to upgrade drains in the identified locations.

"They did carry out maintenance on the drains in the area (Semambu), but (when it rains heavily), the drains are not able to hold the huge amount of water amidst increasing housing projects thus causing the water reservoir area to decrease," he said.
