Three-day "Kembara Sains Langkawi" programme to instil interest in Stem among students
LANGKAWI - The Northern Region branch of the National Science Centre (PSN) is holding a three-day "Kembara Sains Langkawi” programme as a platform to reach out to the community on the resort and sow students' interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (Stem).
PSN director Mismah Jimbun said various interesting interactive activities by introducing informal science learning based on the Stem concepts would be held at the Langkawi Sports Complex until tomorrow.
"Visitors can experience the effects of learning Science and Technology, so our objective is for the community to realise and also appreciate Science, Technology and Innovation as a life-long learning,” she told reporters when observing the implementation of the programme here today.
Mismah said the programme was also held as part of the effort to instil interest among students in Science with the country needing more skilled workers in science and technology.” she added.
She said among the activities held under the programme are 'hands-on' activities, exhibitions, Science and Technology based games, creative performances, robotics exhibitions, 'hands-on' workshops and sessions with scientists.
The main activities included Science Trails, Kahoot Science Quiz Buzz and Let's Experiment, she added.
She said the programme is carried out every year by PSN, with the one in Langkawi since 12014.
For this year, we have the presence of an exhibition bus specially brought by Kuala Lumpur PSN, which showcases materials on Industrial Revolution 4.0, she added.
She said PSN is targeting 10,000 visitors for the three-day programme.
Meanwhile, Miusmah said the Borneo Science Adventure Programme Series Two 2023 will also be organised for 21 days beginning this Sept 15 at three locations in Sabah, namely Kimanis, Kalabakan and Nabawan. - BERNAMA
