Elmina crash: Government to provide assistance to victims’ families - PM
KLANG - The government would provide assistance to the families of the Elmina plane crash victims, including funeral arrangement for victims and accommodation for family members.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this when he visited Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR), earlier to offer his condolences to the families.
"My deepest condolences to the Pahang state executive council family and also to other families as well.
"We would provide all types of assistance such as accommodation and help them financially to lighten their burden, especially those who lose their job," he told reporters, here.
Anwar added the investigation and the process to recover the body would be done soon and it was being managed by both Selangor and Federal government.
Commenting further, he also thanked the forensics department for handling the cases well.
"I'm thankful to all the agencies and the forensics department as everything is handled well and efficiently.
"I'm proud of them," he expressed.
Meanwhile, Anwar said the by-election should be put on hold for the Pelangai seat following the death of incumbent Datuk Seri Johari Harun in the aircraft crash
"That, we wait and focus on this first," he said.
Also present at the hospital were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Caretaker Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari who also offered their condolences to the families of the Elmina plane crash victims.
Yesterday, around 2.45pm a private aircraft crashed at Elmina while it was en route to Subang Airport from Langkawi International Airport.
The victims comprised of eight people who were on board the aircraft as well as the driver of a car and motorcyclist who were hit by the crashing plane.
