SUBANG - Jet Valet Sdn Bhd, the company operating the plane that crashed on Thursday, is a registered company and has an aviation licence.

This was confirmed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).

Its chief executive officer, Captain Norazman Mahmud, said that for now, the authority is conducting a detailed investigation before taking any follow-up action.

"In terms of the (legitimacy) of the company's operation, we can't ascertain anything at this point in time until the investigation is completed.

"CAAM will get hold of documents and information that would help in the initial investigation. So far, there is a licence; there is registration," he said in a press conference here.

In a press statement released earlier, Norazman confirmed that the plane that crashed in Elmina, Shah Alam, did not make any distress calls prior to the crash.

He said the plane departed from Langkawi International Airport at 2.08pm and the first call made to the Subang Air Traffic Control Tower was at 2.47pm.

Landing clearance was given at 2.48pm, but three minutes later, the Subang Air Traffic Control Tower saw thick smoke from the crash site.
