KUANTAN - Pas Pahang has expressed sorrow over the passing of Pahang state exco Datuk Seri Johari Harun and nine other victims who lost their lives in a plane crash on Guthrie Highway near Elmina housing area, Shah Alam, this evening.

The Pas state commissioner Rosli Abdul Jabar conveyed condolences to the family of the deceased and to all Umno Pahang members and Pelangai residents.

"I consider his loss to be a significant as he was a leader who demonstrated strong commitment to any responsibilities entrusted to him.

"Even though he was relatively new in his role as an exco and state assembly, he was a figure well-liked by allies and opponents," he said in a statement today.

In these trying times, Rosli hopes that his family remains patient in the face of the test from God.

"May Allah SWT shower His mercy upon his soul and place him among the righteous, Ameen Ya Rabb," he added.

Johari, who also served as the state assemblyman for the Pelangai constituency, reportedly boarded the Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) aircraft with five other passengers, the pilot and the co-pilot.

Among the other passengers believed to have lost their lives were Kharil Azwan Jamaludin, Shahrul Kamal Roslan, the pilot of the plane owned by Jet Valet and the co-pilot, Heikal Aras Abdul Azim.

The passengers also included Shaharul Amir Omar, Mohamad Naim Fawwaz Mohamed, Muhammad Taufiq Mohd. Zaki, and Idris Abdol Talib @ Ramali.

Johari was elected as the Pelangai state assemblyman after winning the seat in 15th general election (GE15) last year.

He secured 7,308 votes in a four-cornered contest, defeating candidates from Perikatan Nasional (PN), Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Pejuang.
