No distress call made from crashed aircraft - CAAM

SHAH ALAM - The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) confirmed that the plane that crashed in Elmina, Shah Alam did not make an emergency or 'Mayday' calls.

Its Chief Executive Officer Captain Norazman Mahmud said, the plane departed from Langkawi International Airport at 2.08pm and the first call made with the Subang Air Traffic Control Tower was at 2.47pm.

"The landing clearance was given at 2.48pm.

"At 2.51pm, the Subang Air Traffic Control Tower observed smoke coming from the crash site but no mayday call was made by the plane," he said in a statement on Thursday.
