Police seize 27 modified motorcycles in Ampang

AMPANG JAYA - A police operation in Jalan Bunga Raya, Ampang, on Wednesday resulted in the seizure of 27 modified motorcycles.

The operation was carried out by a team of officers and members of the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters.

Ampang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail, said that the motorcycles were seized for various offences, including excessive modification, use of noisy exhausts, "squid" tires, and lack of rear brakes.

"There were also motorcycles being used by foreigners who did not have a valid driver's license," he said.

All of the seized motorcycles were taken to the district police headquarters for documentation and the owners will be summoned to the police station to answer to the charges.

The operation also issued a total of 61 summonses for various offences, including no valid driver's license, wrong registration number, modifying vehicle structures, disobeying directions, and brakes not working properly.

Mohd Azam warned motorcyclists against modifying their vehicles excessively and reminded them to obey the traffic laws.

He said that the police will continue to conduct such operations to ensure the safety of road users.
