SHAH ALAM - Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has urged irresponsible parties to cease spreading false claims that over 200 private religious schools in the state will be closed.

Expressing his frustration at the continuous propagation of these slanderous allegations, he further argues that these accusations are baseless and that the state government had already addressed the issue in July.

"Stop the repeated slander. The claim that over 200 religious schools in Selangor are being closed was answered back in July and is baseless," the Menteri Besar said on his Twitter page.

In July, Amirudin clarified that no demolition notices for any private religious schools were issued by the state administration, refuting the claims made by certain parties.

Instead, he was reported to have mentioned that the state government is working to enhance the guidelines for religious education centers to ensure the safety of the students.

These efforts were initiated based on the decree of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, after the tragic 2018 tahfiz centre fire incident in Kuala Lumpur that claimed 23 lives and injured five students.

The Selangor government is giving flexibility in allowing the registration period for 55 private religious schools to operate until at least next year.

This move aids approximately 10,000 students in taking the Primary Religious School Assessment (PSRA) examination in November and the Kafa Class Assessment Examination (UPKK) in January of the following year.
