PH submits 3 names for Selangor MB, Amirudin still top choice
SHAH ALAM - Selangor Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders have confirmed that the coalition has submitted three candidate names for the position of the Selangor Menteri Besar to the Palace.
This means that besides Sungai Tua Assemblyman Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, two other candidates also have the opportunity to become the new Selangor Menteri Besar.
However, the Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Selangor chairman, Izham Hashim, said that the coalition has agreed to retain Amirudin.
"We have submitted three names (for Menteri Besar candidates) because the Palace requested three names. However, the one name that we agreed upon is Amirudin.
"We support Amirudin as the Menteri Besar through consensus and we have communicated this in the letter to the palace," he told Sinar today.
Meanwhile, Izham denied claims suggesting that PKR Selangor leaders were involved in discussions regarding this matter after the recent state elections.
Instead, he stated that discussions about the Menteri Besar candidate had been concluded and were collectively discussed among PH Selangor leaders.
"The palace did request for three names, but Amirudin's name as the Menteri Besar was agreed upon by consensus from the beginning, and there has been no change since then," he said.
When asked about the other two candidates submitted to the Selangor State Palace besides Amirudin, Izham declined to reveal their names.
"I cannot disclose the names," he said.
It is understood that the swearing-in ceremony for the Selangor Menteri Besar may take place on Friday.
