Three surahs main focus of #QuranHour in guiding youths towards becoming leaders
SHAH ALAM – Three surahs from the Quran will be the main focus of the #QuranHour which will commence on Aug 30.
Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation (WUIF) chief executive officer Marhaini Yusoff said the programme which will be held for the ninth time in collaboration with 19 media synergy partners would focus on the youths’ agenda.
She said the programme’s theme of transforming youths to be more proactive involved the method of tadabbur (contemplation) of three surahs namely al-Fatihah, al-Insan and al-Asr.
“The theme of the #QuranHour this year is transforming youths through tadabbur of three surahs, namely al-Fatihah which highlights the opening and beginning of change, al-Insan which focuses on humanity and al-Asr which focuses on the value of time.
“The passages brought up a sense of urgency for youths to be more proactive,” she said during the media synergy briefing in conjunction with #QuranHour 1445H/2023 at Kompleks Karangkraf, here, today.
Marhaini said previously, WUIF as the organiser of the programme focused on the public in general, but now, they wanted to focus on youths to fit into the narrative of the annual theme ‘Pemuda Merdeka, Pemimpin Abrar’ (Liberated Youths, Virtuous Leader).
"We have come up with 11 characteristics from the contemplation of surah al-Insan in developing an al-Abrar leadership for the next generation to emulate in leading not just a country, but small institutions like a family.
"One of the characteristics is creating a person with gratitude rather than kufr (ingratitude), where the latter has been made noticeable during the campaigning season (of the state elections) when people fell victim to acts of slander, uttering insulting words to make a point and many more," she added.
Through a video recording displayed during the briefing session, Karangkraf media group advisor and also WUIF founder Datuk Hussamuddin Yaacob said there was a need to rebuild the country and focus on the solutions provided in the Quran and use it as guidance.
“We hope we can go back to our nature as Muslims that are fond of the Quran,” he said in the video.
Meanwhile, the company’s co-advisor, Datuk Muhammad Nasir Hamzah who was present during the briefing said the programme was an opportunity to highlight to the people that the Quran is one of the foremost solutions in making the country a better place.
"We need to reflect on the recent campaigning season for the state elections. I took it as an inspiration because everyone is hopeful to make their state better, such as by creating equal rights regardless of race.
“People get scared when we say that it (Quran) is our solution mechanism but they should not be because the Quran has laid out perfect guidelines to lead a just country,” he said.
He said that people should take the opportunity from the current momentum of the state governments by joining hands and fighting corruption together, where the elements from the Quran are included.
The #QuranHour programme will be broadcasted live on RTM’s TV1 from noon until 1pm on Aug 30.
