Terengganu MB assures progress after PN's clean sweep in polls

KUALA TERENGGANU - In a step likened to shifting from first to third gear, Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar has expressed his assertive move to develop the state after recent elections.
In an unprecedented election results, Perikatan Nasional won all 32 seats with no opposition to provide checks and-balances in the state's administration.
"During the first term, I operated the vehicle (state) in first gear. Now, I have skipped second gear and directly engaged in third gear.
"It's time to accelerate, especially in serving the people and empowering our state. As for our direction and strategies, I will explore the appropriate avenues," he said during a press conference after chairing the first exco meeting at Wisma Darul Iman, here, today.
For it to materialise, he said it need state excos need to work closely and collaborate with government officials to ensure transparency and clarity in objectives, he added.
Yesterday, Samsuri was sworn in as the state menteri besar before
Sultan Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin at Istana Syarqiyyah, here.
Samsuri further said the state government must adapt to the present challenging economic environment.
"We will carry out plans in the Terengganu Sejahtera masterplan along with the remaining four months budget. We agree to ensure all excos can out effective measure plans for the next four months," he said.
Samsuri said a retreat will be held to draw a clear direction at the end of this year to implement next year's budget.
