MELAKA - Former Member of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly, Datuk Ab Karim Sulaiman, passed away at his residence in Kampung Pulau, Masjid Tanah, last night.

The late Datuk Ab Karim, formerly the Exco for Works and Public Facilities is believed to have succumbed to old age ailments at 9:25 PM.

The news of his passing was shared by Melaka Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, through the latter's Facebook post.

"May Allah shower His blessings upon his soul and place him among the believers. Al-Fatihah," he wrote.

Fondly referred to as 'Captain Karim', the late Datuk Ab Karim began his political career as a representative of the people after being elected as the State Assemblyman for the Sungai Udang constituency in the 10th General Election, before serving as State Assemblyman for Tanjung Bidara for two terms from 2004 to 2013.

He is survived by his widow, Datin Fatimah Md Nor, and four children.
