TikTok Awards, platform to recognise and explore content-creating talents

KUALA LUMPUR – The much-awaited TikTok Award, which will be held on Aug 27, is a platform to recognise and explore content-creating talents.

TikTok's Head of Operations and Marketing Yin Yin Hooi said influencers create changes on social media and impact lives of others in a positive way.

"For example, Zarina Zainudin, who shares her parenting journey of having autistic sons," she said today at TikTok Awards Press Conference at Godowns Art Centre, Kuala Lumpur.

Yin said the TikTok Awards will be held in August in commemoration of Malaysia’s Independence Day. "We want Malaysians to continue sharing their talent and culture on the platform," she added.

The award is sponsored by the phone brand, Honor, which is promoting its prime product at the moment, Honor 90, TV3, F&N, UMobile and foodpanda.

TikTok General Manager Operations and Marketing, Angga Anugrah Putra, said people have the opportunity to vote for their favourite TikToker until Aug 26.

"TikTok is a global company. We are looking to make the Tiktok Awards ceremony an annual affair," he added.

The show will be broadcast on the TikTok Malaysia page. The event was hosted by two renowned people, Fiza Frizzy and Adam Syamil.

Among the famous TikTokers present today were AuntyPurple, Khairul Aming, Sofyank96, sir aSai who came all the way from Kelantan.

The press conference started with a dance performance by established TikTok dancers who danced to famous songs played during the event such as Flowers by Jisoo, Calm Down by Selena Gomez and many others.

Some of the award categories are Best Education, Best Gaming, Best Fitness, Best Entertainment, People’s Choice and others.

Nominees for Best Entertainment such as Ryan Bakery and Boss James were also present.

"Consistency is important about being a TikTok content creator. For four years, I tried posting as many videos as possible. In the end, you will receive the big following.

"TikTok is a golden opportunity to establish branding and community engagement. That is how you know if your TikTok content’s objective is achieved or not," TikTok content creator Boss James said.

Ryan Bakery and Sofyank96 are both nominated for Popular Content Creator of the Year.

The press conference ended with a performance by Floor88.
