SHAH ALAM – Former Umno information chief Shahril Sufian Hamdan believes that with the wave of the shift in votes, it is impossible for Umno to win in any elections.

He said the party will not gain any trust from voters if it still practiced the sycophantic culture and not telling the truth.

"Honestly, if you place anyone in this wave, there is no way for Umno to continue to win," he said on the ‘Keluar Sekejap’ podcast programme entitled 'post-match analysis' in conjunction with the 2023 state elections with former Umno youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin and former Bangi MP Dr Ong Kian Ming, yesterday.

Meanwhile, Shahril revealed that Terengganu Umno was previously confident of winning the state seats in the state polls.

"I was told that during the discussion on seats distribution before the state election, the Terengganu Umno leadership was confident of winning," he said.

Commenting on the victory of Perikatan Nasional (PN) in Kedah, Ong said the victory was not only from the narrative of the green wave, but rather it had to do with the leadership of Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor who was different from any other political figures.

Khairy also said that the factor of Malay voters chosing PN was also one of the contributors to Sanusi's victory until some Umno leaders who contested lost.

"Umno people do not like to cooperate with PH. They don’t like it because Zahid is still the Umno president, all this has contributed to the decision," he said.
