Kami Tuition Centre receives good response, review from parents, guardians
KUALA LUMPUR - The Kami Tuition Centre, in Taman Sri Serdang Rukun Tetangga Community (KRT), in Petaling, Selangor which was launched yesterday must be fully-utilised by the underprivileged students in the surrounding community so that these children can gain additional knowledge.
Noraini Sharipudin, 42, a restaurant worker in Bandar Baru Bangi, said she will send her youngest son, Mohd Faris Muhd Iman, a fourth former, to the tuition centre for additional coaching in preparation for his Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination later.
"If I send him to this tuition centre, my burden will be reduced as I also have to support three other children who need tuition in the same subjects," said Noraini, who lives in Section 2, Bandar Baru Bangi, Selangor with her family.
According to her, she was planning to send her son to a tuition centre next year as he was weak in Mathematics and History, however, now she will just send him to the government funded Kami Tuition Centre.
"Thank you to the National Unity Ministry for coming out with this initiative. Since I can now send my child to this tuition centre, I will be able to use the money that has been saved for my other children’s tuition," she told Bernama.
Meanwhile, Siti Nur Amirah Ahmad Kamal, 28, who works in the private sector will send her sister, Siti Hamizah, to the Kami Tuition Centre next year to prepare for her SPM examination.
She said it was a good initiative as many from the B40 group are not able to afford sending their children for tuition.
"I believe going for tuition is very important to ensure a student is more prepared to sit for an examination. With this initiatvie, not only students who can afford tuition will be able to gain additional knowledge, but also those who are underprivileged.
"We are not from a well-to-do family. My sister is now in Form Four and will sit for the SPM next year. There are times when learning at school alone is not enough, and tuition can help my younger sister to focus more and gain a deeper understanding,” said Siti Nur Amirah, who lives in Taman Sabha Impian, Kajang.
She said her sister has never enrolled for any tuition as the family cannot afford it.
Siti Nur Amirah said her sister needs help in Mathematics and is very open about registering at the Kami Tuition Centre.
"I can also enrol for tuition in subjects that I find difficult to focus on," added Siti Hamizah.
The Kami Tuition Centre at KRT Taman Sri Serdang was launched yesterday by the National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang.
The centre is to provide free additional education to underprivileged students to help them improve their academic performance, as well as fulfill the ministry's social responsibility to the community, and realise the government's aspiration to empower the people through quality education. - BERNAMA
