Trader left in shock after being robbed nearly RM70,000 of sales gain
HAZELEN LIANA KAMARUDINKOTA BHARU - A retail shop trader was left shocked after being robbed of an estimated RM70,000 on his way to a bank at Jalan Kebun Sultan near here, today.
The incident at 10.45am took place when the victim was riding a motorcycle and carrying a black plastic bag containing the money.
Kota Bharu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rosdi Daud said that preliminary investigation found that the victim was approached by a suspect riding a motorcycle who took away the black plastic bag and two mobile phones placed in a basket.
"The suspect is allegedly a man approximately 170cm tall and speaks in Kelantanese dialect.
"At the time of the incident, the suspect was riding a green or black motorcycle, wearing a jacket and trousers and a dark helmet," he said in a statement, today.
He added the case is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code. If convicted, the offender could be punished with imprisonment for up to fourteen years, fined or caned.
He said that the police were treating the crime seriously and that they were actively pursuing the arrest the suspect.
