KOTA BHARU - The Chairman of Kelantan Perikatan Nasional (PN), Datuk Ahmad Yakob, is grateful that Pas was able to form a government comfortably despite many out-of-state residents not returning to vote in this state election.

He mentioned that this factor contributed to the voter turnout rate being less than 70 percent.

"The decrease in the voter turnout rate could possibly be due to the absence of out-of-state residents returning to vote.

"However, we are thankful to Allah and express our gratitude to all the people of Kelantan," he said during a press conference here yesterday.

Earlier, he, who is also the Kelantan Menteri Besar, announced PN's victory at Dataran Medan Ilmu.

In this state election, PAS won 43 out of 45 contested seats.

The Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition made a breakthrough by capturing the Kota Lama State Legislative Assembly seat through its candidate Dr Hafidzah Mustakim.

Meanwhile, BN succeeded in retaining the Galas seat as its incumbent, Mohd Syahbuddin Hasyim, continued to be entrusted as a Member of the State Legislative Assembly.
