GEORGE TOWN - Gerakan has once again faced a complete rejection from Chinese voters in Penang as all 19 of their candidates were unofficially defeated in the Penang state election.

Even the attempt by Gerakan's president Datuk Dominic Lau to contest in a majority Malay constituency Bayan Lepas yielded little positive results.

Based on unofficial counts as of 8.45pm, Lau, who is also the PN Penang chairman garnered only 13,629 votes compared to PH-BN candidate, Azrul Mahathir Aziz, who secured 15,410 votes.

Azrul Mahathir has also announced on social media that unofficially, he has successfully retained the Bayan Lepas seat for a second term.
