KUALA TERENGGANU - Terengganu police have confirmed receiving reports misuse of identification cards (MyKad) by other individuals at Marang and Kuala Terengganu polling centres.

Terengganu Police Chief Datuk Mazli Mazlan said the reports were received from complainants who claimed they could not fulfil their voting responsibilities after discovering that someone else had used their details.

He mentioned that three cases were reported in Kuala Terengganu, while one was lodged in the Marang district.

"We have received reports involving four individuals who could not vote as their claims that their identification cards were used by someone else. It will be investigated under Section 1954 Election Offenses Act," he said while speaking to reporters at the Terengganu Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK) on Saturday afternoon.

"We advise all parties to maintain order after the polling centres are closed, leading up to the vote count and after the results are obtained. We hope they will not disrupt traffic by organising convoys in the middle of the road to celebrate victory," he said.

On Saturday, 32 State Assembly constituencies were involved in the Terengganu state elections and the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary by-election.
