Less than 50 per cent voter turnout as of noon nationwide - EC

SHAH ALAM - The Election Commission (EC) reported Terengganu and Kedah have recorded the highest voter turnout rate among the six states contesting as of noon today.

In its hourly update, the EC reported that less than half of eligible voters have gone out and voted, with Kedah and Terengganu leading the turnout statistics.

EC shared on their social media platform that Terengganu recorded the highest rate of voters turnout at 42 per cent followed by Kedah at 41 per cent.

In Penang, the voter turnout was recorded at 38 per cent while in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan, it was at 36 per cent and 35 per cent respectively.

Kelantan recorded the lowest voter turnout rate at 34 per cent only.

Meanwhile, the voter turnout at Kuala Terengganu by-election has shot up to 39 per cent by noon.
