Taman Sri Andalas residents, particularly the youth, turn up to vote in state election
WAN AHMAD ATARMIZIKLANG - A substantial number of Taman Sri Andalas residents, particularly the youth, turned up to cast their votes in the state election held at Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Sri Andalas for the Sungai Kandis state seat.
Speaking to Sinar Daily, some of the earliest voters shared their perspectives on the voting process and the election atmosphere at Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Sri Andalas.
"As a first-time voter in a state election, everything went well.
"However, compared to the 15th General Election held last year, there are noticeable differences here at Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Sri Andalas.
"Last year during GE15, there seemed to be more people and voters. Today, while a significant number of people turned up to vote, it's not as crowded as it was last year," 25-year-old Shahrizal Zainal told Sinar Daily today.
Regardless of the election outcome, he hoped the winner would strive to improve Selangor, the state assembly Sungai Kandis, and Taman Sri Andalas.
Tholaashini Kamalanathan, 22, a first-time state election voter, said this marks her inaugural state election voting experience.
"Last year, I had the privilege of participating in my first general election.
"The voting process today was efficient and swift.
"The volunteers at Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Sri Andalas were extremely helpful and considerate of my needs.
"Their assistance made today's voting process quite seamless; it only took a couple of minutes," Tholaashini shared.
She added that her wish is relatively straightforward hoping for the best party emerge victorious.
"I simply want them to fulfill their responsibilities diligently and serve the people of Selangor, particularly Taman Sri Andalas residents," she said.
Meanwhole, Aaron Loo, 26, who arrived with his family to vote said he was satisfied with the election process.
"Voting in the state election at Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Sri Andalas was hassle-free."
"The voter turnout pace today was somewhat slower than anticipated. This is my second time voting; the first was during GE15 in 2022.
"I would say there are fewer people today compared to the last election," Aaron said.
He voiced his election hopes, saying his aspirations align with those of many Malaysians – we desire our politicians to contribute to our nation genuinely.
"We're tired of continuous political spectacles.
"We don't want politicians to assume leadership roles, secure influential positions, and then exploit those positions for personal gain. This hope resonates with most Malaysians," Aaron added.
The state assembly, Sungai Kandis seat, will see three candidates competing in the state election: Pakatan Harapan's Zawawi Mughni, Perikatan Nasional's Wan Dzahanurin Ahmad, and Muda's Afriena Shaqira Sariff.
