Police confirmed violent assault in front of police station
KUALA LUMPUR - The Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) confirmed an incident of violence occurred at the entrance of a District Police Headquarters last night.
Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, said the incident took place in a state in the east coast.
He mentioned that police is still conducting an investigation on this and an official statement will be issued soon.
"The video we watched only shows a portion of the incident.
"There might have been events prior to that, including provocative actions or the like."
"I cannot comment further as the investigation is ongoing," he said during a press conference today.
He said these after visiting the voting process and interacting with Election Commission (SPR) officials at the Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Klang Gate, here.
A 14-second video went viral, showing an individual riding a motorcycle with a party flag being attacked by two individuals in front of a police station.
The video also shows the man on the motorcycle being punched by one individual, while another person drags him off the motorcycle and takes him into the police station compound.
Then another individual is seen boarding the victim's motorcycle and bringing it into the police station.
