Polls: High hopes for PN to retain Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu - Dr M
ALOR SETAR - Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad has expresses his confidence in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition's bright prospects of retaining the state governments of Kedah, Terengganu, and Kelantan.
The former prime minister stated that this coalition also had a chance to capture two states currently governed by Pakatan Harapan (PH), namely Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.
However, Dr Mahathir firmly mentioned that PN was seen as facing difficulty in capturing Penang due to the position or composition of the state legislative assembly there.
"In Kelantan and Terengganu, PN has a chance since they are with Pas... There is still a chance in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan, but in Penang, it's difficult because there aren't many areas where Perikatan can win," he told reporters after casting his vote at Sekolah Kebangsaan Titi Gajah, here, on Saturday.
In the same development, Dr Mahathir stated that PN's victory in this state election demonstrated the people's rejection of the Unity Government coalition led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at present in these six states.
He also did not rule out the possibility of changes at the Federal Government level if PN wins in all six states involved.
For the record, the states of Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu were previously governed by the PN coalition, while the remaining three states were under the PH administration, namely Penang, Selangor, and Negeri Sembilan. - Awani
