Selayang Baru polling center deserted, not many voting in the morning
SELAYANG - The situation at the polling center in SJK (C) Selayang Baru appears to be quiet and not as lively as during the 15th General Election last November.
Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate for Taman Templer, Zaidy Abdul Talib, stated that they are unsure if this situation is only happening in Selayang or if other areas are also facing the same situation.
According to him, his observation at five polling centers as at 9.40 am found that some lanes were seen empty with no voters in line.
"It might be too early but the situation is rather different compared to the voter turnout rate during the previous GE15.
"The number of voters is very low and I'm not sure if it's because it's too early (in the morning) or if it's only happening in Selayang," he said, arriving at the polling center at 9.30 am along with his wife, Kasmawati Haron.
He mentioned that this situation impacts the number of votes for all parties that are competing and not just PN.
"Therefore, I urge all voters to come down and fulfill their responsibility. Voting for the candidate of choice is everyone's right but what's important is to come out and vote. There's still time until 6 pm," he added.
However, a survey by Sinar Harian as at 11 am found that voters are gradually arriving at the polling center to fulfill their duty.
