Penangites will be deciding the future today, says caretaker CM Chow
GEORGETOWN - Today is the day when the Penangites decide the future, says Penang caretaker chief minister Chow Kon Yeow.
As today marks the state polls in six states, Chow hopes that the voting day would be completed smoothly.
“I hope the voting day can be completed successfully and Penangites will fulfill their responsibilities as voters.
“I also hope that all the voting centres will be able to smoothly carry out their respective responsibilities to facilitate the voting process,” he told reporters when met at SJK (C) Hu Yew Seah polling station here today.
Commenting on the state election campaign period, Chow said that the process went smoothly without any incidents being reported.
“I am grateful because the state election campaign was fulfilled last night and it went smoothly.
“There were no incidents reported which means all candidates, contested parties including machineries and the public have practiced good spirit and ensured that the campaign took place in peace and harmony,” he said.
Chow was seen arriving at the polling centre at 7.54am together with Komtar candidate Teh Hai Heng who made an entrance on a motorcycle with his wife.
Minutes later, Deputy Education Minister Lim Hui Ying walks hand-in-hand with her father, who is also a veteran DAP leader Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang at 7.58am.
The EC sets 6pm as the last voting time in the six states elections in Malaysia.
