Shahidan calls on government to respect freedom of speech
KUALA LUMPUR - Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim has called on the government to respect the freedom of speech.
He said that the government should not use the police to silence its critics.
Shahidan made the remarks during a speech at a Perikatan Nasional (PN) ceramah here today.
“Yang Berhormat PM (Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim), there is no need to involve the police when campaigning,” he said.
He said that the government is currently in a state of confusion and has no clear pathway forward.
Shahidan also slammed the government for its handling of the economy.
“Receiving investment does not mean that the country is doing good.
"The price of goods now is still high, as opposed to what they have promised, which is to maintain low price of goods,” he told the crowd.
He also said that the stock market has fallen.
Shahidan urged young voters to support PN in the upcoming state elections.
He said that young people are the future of Malaysia, and that they need to be given a voice.
He also said that PN is the only party that will invest in the future of young people.
