BAYAN LEPAS - Former Perlis Umno chief Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim has said that Umno is not a sacred party in Penang and that Perikatan Nasional (PN) is the way to go for the upcoming state elections.

Speaking at a ceramah in Bayan Lepas on Saturday, Shahidan said that Umno has "changed its face" and is now under the same roof as Pakatan Harapan's coalition, DAP.

"Umno is such a popular party — which always sacked their members.

"Dear Penangites, you have been marginalised. Umno only contested six seats for this Penang state elections," he said.

Shahidan, who is also the Arau MP, further elaborated that he does not blame the Umno supporters; in fact he is blaming the Umno leadership.

He also noted that the Unity Government has no direction and that the federal government has unfulfilled promises.

"He (Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) said that he wanted to catch the ‘penyakau’ (thieves). However, he has not caught any.

"He said he wanted to reduce the petrol price but until now it still hasn't.

"We (PN) are already ahead. Thank you Malaysian youths for supporting PN."
