GEORGETOWN - A Gerakan Mega Ceramah in Georgetown, Penang, drew less than 100 people on Saturday.

Checks by Sinar Daily found that half of the crowd was filled with Gerakan members rather than public audiences.

Gerakan President Datuk Dominic Lau Hoe Chai was also absent from the ceramah.

In comparison, other Mega Ceramahs conducted by Pakatan Harapan (PH) and DAP have seen hundreds of supporters and audiences. Gerakan's ceramah, on the other hand, only received around 60 to 80 people.

Kebun Bunga PN candidate Tan Zhen Zune was also seen wearing shorts while delivering his speech.

This is unusual, as politicians typically wear formal attire at ceramahs.

In his speech, Tan reiterated that voting for PN does not mean that people have to give up their freedom to wear shorts.

"Many people have asked me, 'If I vote for you, can I still wear shorts?

"This perception was created by PH, who have tried to scare people into thinking that if they vote for PN, they will not be allowed to drink alcohol or wear shorts," he said.

Tan's speech was met with mixed reactions from the audience.

Some people applauded him for speaking out against PH's smear campaign, while others felt that his outfit was inappropriate for a ceramah.
